Your daily routine, sleeping hours, eating and drinking habits (Eating For Beauty: Food and Drinks) show on your face, which means healthy lifestyle = healthy skin. So drink plenty of water and eat healthy food. Apart from food and water intake, you should get plenty of sleep. Another thing, just like you eat food daily and 3-4 times same as your skin needs its own food daily, at least once in a day. Steaming is highly beneficial for cleaning all types of skin, from oily to dry skin. It cleans the skin of all surface
- clears acne,
- clean/clear skin,
- leaves your skin soft,

- stimulates the circulation and
- unclogs blocked pores
If your skin is dry, steam your face once a week. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin. Girls who have oily skin also take steam. Here are some posts that might help your oily skin Oily Skin Essentials and My Favourite Products For Oily Skin if you want to go for natural see Treat Oily Skin Naturally There are many Electrical devices which are available to produce steam and this process is known as Sauna Facial.
If you don’t have that electrical device, you can get steam by leaning over a large bowl of boiling water, by covering your head with a towel and making a boundary with the towel, this will not let the steam get out. The steam will open your pores and helps loosen the blackheads. Do not get too close to the boiling water because if the steam is too hot, also you may get burned and it might cause broken veins.
To make steaming more beneficial, add a tablespoon of herbs to the water. Elderflower and chamomile are the old favourites for this. You can also try lavender, thyme, basil, mint, peppermint and rosemary for a stimulating cleanse. These herbs have a pleasant scent.
Steam your face for about 20-30 minutes. By steaming, blackheads come out of the pores and it becomes easy to get rid of them. If you have been extracting blackheads use a face mask containing yoghurt and cucumber etc as these are astringent and healing.
If you suffer from a severe acne problem, then It is my sincere advice that you should not try steaming as the steam and heat can spread the infection. Also, after taking a steam relax by your home SPA, sounds good right? Check this post Home SPA: facial DIY recipes.
