This recipe is of Gulab Jamun. It is South Asian dessert, it is very popular in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. Gulaab Jamun is very soft and sweet when you taste. It is really hard to describe its delicious taste. The colour of this dessert is brown, like chocolate but with a bit of maroon/red touch in it. It is a round shaped sweet. So, if you want to try it or want to discover more about it, well this is the perfect place for you. You will learn its recipe and a bit more about it. Let’s start this amazing journey of Gulaab Jamun!

The work Gulaab means Rose in English and Jamun is a fruit (Called Java Lava I just saw on the internet). Basically, you can say Rose Fruit Dessert. I really don’t know why it is called Gulaab Jamun, I mean it doesn’t even sound logical, anyhow it is a perfect sweet if you like sweet things.

Now, let us talk about the taste of Gulaab Jamun. It is very soft like cake and very sweet like honey or sugar. First, we make some balls from a specially prepared dough and then those balls are dipped in Sugar Syrup and sometimes in Rosewater scented Syrup. So, it has a nice Aroma/Scent of Rose, cardamon and other things.

BTW, a warning guys! If you are on a diet plan eating Gulab Jamun is not a good idea. But you can eat one.

Lets me brief you a bit about its history. Gulab jamun was first prepared in medieval India, derived from a fritter that Persianate Central Asian Turkish invaders brought to India. One theory claims that it was accidentally prepared by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan‘s personal chef.
